Best Synthetic Oil Care in North Seattle, Washington

Ossinger's NW Enterprises offers the best synthetic oil care for your vehicle and helps you provide best all around care for your car, with the following tips.

Get the Temperature Right

Run your car engine for a bit before changing your oil. Warming your engine will loosen the oil a bit and help it come out easier. Do not let the engine go any longer than five minutes to avoid scalding.

Help the Jack

Use jack stands to help support your car. Relying on a jack alone is too risky. Even a little bump can cause the jack to collapse, and the car too.

Get Your Hands Dirty

It is fine to use a filter wrench to remove your oil filter, but always hand-tighten the new one. The filter wrench can puncture your oil filter and you will need to buy another. Lubricate the filter gasket with a bit of oil to keep it from drying out and to help it seal better. Only turn it the recommended number of turns stated in your owner manual. Too tight or too loose will result in oil leaks. Mark the 12 o'clock position before starting so you can keep track of how many rotations you have made.

Avoid these Engine Oil Measurement Errors

Checking your engine oil level may seem like an easy and straightforward task. But do you know what you are doing well? Many people review engine oil when at the pump. When you turn on your engine and drive, the oil lubricates various parts of the engine while working. Engine oil goes everywhere and leaves the crankcase. When checking the level, you will get a low reading and assume you need oil when you don't.

Check Engine Oil on Level Ground

If your car is not on a zero incline, flat surface, oil will move from the oil reservoir into other parts. When the car is tilting, measuring the engine oil level will give you a false reading. Your dipstick may indicate you have too much or too little oil depending on whether your car is tilted more one way or another.

Read the Dipstick

Check the oil level of your engine with the dipstick. The dipstick should be removed and cleaned with a tissue. Put the dipstick back in place for a few seconds and remove again to see if you need oil or not. The rod has two marks, an upper and lower. The first line, closer to the top, marks off the absolute maximum amount of oil you should have in your engine. The second line, closer to the bottom, marks the minimum amount of oil needed. If you need to top off, use the same type and brand of AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil.

Keep Count

Line up the number of bottles of oil you need to fill your engine. That way you will not lose track of what you have put in if the kids come and distract you.
